Buttermilk Lodge

Buttermilk Lodge ( named after Buttermilk Lake - Loch Ime) is a warm, comfortable and friendly home away from home located just 5 minutes walk ( 400 meters)from Clifden town in beautiful Connemara. Our home was purpose built to accommodate guests in comfort. Each bedroom is named after a local lake,individually decorated, spacious and comfortable with multi channel tv, dd phone, hairdryer, personal toiletries, ironing facilities, and many extras. .We cater for all your needs and more ! Double rooms have either a King or Queen size bed.Twin Rooms have 2 single beds.Triple Rooms have one double bed and one single bed. We provide a great breakfast experience( included in the price). There is a selection of beverages- regular, herbal, decaffinated etc. Help yourself to juices, cereals, fruits, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts, homemade breads, freshly baked croissants and scones , then order from the selection on the varied breakfast menu , choose from the traditional options and many others including a daily special, homemade pancakes, fresh fish, smoked salmon etc. Our portion sizes are generous, no need for lunch ! We use only freerange eggs ( from our farm and that of a neighbour)and from May to September you can visit the hens in their run at the end of the back garden. Our Connemara Ponies and Sheep are raised on our land a few miles from the house, if you wish to visit we'll give you directions, and if possible accompamy you and introduce you to the animals.The Guest Lounge has a real turf fire and you are welcome to help yourself from the complimentary tea and coffee facilities, books, board games, original art etc. at any time. Read the guest comment book ( since July 1997)and add your comments.Corkscrews , bottle openers and glasses are provided.In the upstairs lobby area there is complimentary broadband internet access for guests use.* Patrick and Cathriona the proprietors / hosts have many years training and experience in the hotel & catering industry and have used it to provide a real home from home, catering for your every need. * We have lots of recommendations on restaurants, pubs, walks, treks etc,and are only delighted to help you plan your days, onward trips etc. We will do all we can to ensure you enjoy your time in Connemara.* Children over the age of 5 are welcome. * Closed Dec 24, 25, 26 and January and February.

We are located on the Westport Road, ( N59 -Clifden to Westport), so Buttermilk Lodge is very easy to find and there is private car parking to the front and rear of the house. There is a footpath and street lighting, so its safe to walk .There is a quiet laneway - Canon's Lane ( walking shortcut !! ) from the bottom of the drive down to town.
