Von der verwinkelten Altstadt und den palmengesäumten Promenaden der Avenida dos Descobrimentos ist es nur einen Katzensprung zum Hafen und der alten, steinernen Festung. Hier kann man das bunte Treiben der Fischerboote beobachten und selbst in See stechen, und wer Lust auf ein bisschen Abenteuer hat, der sollte die Grotten in der Umgebung erkunden. Seeluft macht ja bekanntlich hungrig, doch dem ist schnell abgeholfen: Frische Meeresfrüchte und Würziges vom Grill werden direkt am Hafen angeboten Die felsige Steilküste und die weißen Strände rund um Lagos laden zu stundenlangen Entdeckungstouren ein; besonders sehenswert sind der Meia Praia im Osten und der etwas versteckte Praia do Pinhaio im Süden. Wer eine Pause von Sand und Sonne braucht, sollte das Städtische Museum besichtigen, das nicht nur Kirchenschätze und Kunsthandwerk, sondern auch konservierte Tier-Fötusse ausstellt. Zuviel des Guten? Dann ab zum Marktplatz. Hier kann man bei dem quirligen Treiben von Zauberern, Malern und Artisten einfach mal die Seele baumeln und sich treiben lassen.
