Hostels in Perugia - Günstige Unterkunft in Perugia
Perugia ist die Hauptstadt der Region Umbrien in Italien und der Provinz Perugia. Die Stadt wurde ursprünglich von den Etruskern auf einem markanten Hügel (493 m) über der Ebene gegründet, ihr antiker Name ist Perusia. Sie gehörte zu den zwölf mächtigsten etruskischen Städten. Besonders hübsch ist die auf dem Berg liegende Altstadt. Hier gibt es kleine malerische Gässchen und zahlreiche interessante Kulturdenkmäler. Dazu gehören z.B. der Arco Etrusco, ein Bogenbauwerk aus dem 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr., die mittelalterliche Fontana Maggiore, die den Peruginern als der schönste Brunnen der Welt gilt, und den Palazzo dei Priori mit seiner außergewöhnlichen Außentreppe, in dessen Räumen die Nationalgalerie Umbriens untergebracht ist. Perugia verfügt zudem über viele schöne Sakralbauten, z.B. den Tempio di San Michele Arcangelo, eine Rundkirche aus dem 5.6. Jahrhundert, San Domenico aus dem 17. Jahrhundert und San Pietro aus der Zeit um 1600. Perugia ist auch Schauplatz des Umbria Jazz, eines der größten und weltweit bekanntesten Jazz-Festivals. Das zehntägige Festival findet jährlich Anfang Juli statt.
